🏆 Cup-winning genetics. Northern Lights #5 took 1st Place at the 1989 High Times Cannabis Cup, with multiple further wins through the early 1990s. Auto Northern Lights runs that same Afghani and Thai foundation on a fixed timeline.

🌿 Auto Northern Lights Seeds: The Benchmark Indica on a Fixed Timeline

Auto Northern Lights seeds carry the Afghani Indica × Thai Sativa genetics that made Northern Lights the strain modern indoor cultivation was built on, crossed with Ruderalis so the plant finishes on a fixed 70 to 84 day timeline with no light flip, and keeps the earthy-sweet-pine profile and the deep, gradual body effect that made the original the reference point everyone else gets measured against.

auto northern lights feminised seeds australia close up cola trichome coverage indica structure

The genetics emerged in the Pacific Northwest in the late 1970s before Australian-born breeder Nevil Schoenmakers took the cuts to the Netherlands and stabilised them commercially. The #5 phenotype he selected became the definitive expression: compact, fast, heavily resinous, and consistent across generations in a way almost nothing from that era could match. The auto version adds Ruderalis to trigger flowering automatically at three to four weeks from germination, and what survives the cross is most of what mattered in the first place. For the full origin story, including how Schoenmakers' Cannabis Castle operation established the global cannabis seed industry, read Jason's Northern Lights strain review.

What the Ruderalis cross costs, plainly: THC sits at 18 to 22% against 19 to 24% for the photoperiod, which is a smaller gap than most auto conversions give up. Indoor yield reaches up to 450 g/m² against the photoperiod's 550. The real difference is outdoors, where 90 to 160 g per plant is a long way short of the photoperiod's 400 to 650 g with a full Australian summer veg. The terpene profile and the effect character come through close to intact, so what you trade here is quantity rather than quality.

What Auto Northern Lights seeds do well:

  • A faithful auto conversion: the earthy-sweet-pine profile and the body character carry through the Ruderalis cross better than they do on most autos in the range, so this is recognisably Northern Lights with a proper cure
  • The deepest body effect in the auto catalogue: the 90% indica genetics produce a gradual, complete relaxation that builds across 60 to 90 minutes rather than arriving all at once
  • Genuinely compact: 50 to 80 cm with 25 to 40% stretch in early flower, which suits tents from 60 × 60 cm upward, balconies, and discreet outdoor positions
  • Forty years of breeding stability: consistent phenotypes, predictable structure, reliable finishing, and that stability is the product as much as the effect is
  • Fixed timeline, any light cycle: 70 to 77 days seed to harvest, five to six indoor cycles a year, and two to three outdoor runs a season in warm Australian climates

🌿 Auto Northern Lights Seeds Effects and Experience

Onset (10–20 minutes): gradual and gentle. The first signal is mental rather than physical, a quiet calm settling in without a rush or a hard drop. The 10% Thai sativa shows itself here and keeps the opening from being immediately heavy.

Early phase (20–45 minutes): physical relaxation spreads and a comfortable heaviness settles into the limbs. Still functional at this point, so conversation and passive activities suit the window. The myrcene dominance is already amplifying the body effect.

Mid-phase (45–90 minutes): the body effect deepens substantially and becomes the dominant sensation. Motivation for active tasks drops noticeably and the couch becomes appealing. Mental engagement decreases but stays pleasant rather than fogged, and appetite picks up.

Late-phase (90–150 minutes): full sedation develops. Physical comfort is profound and sleep follows easily for most at typical doses, without forcing it. The transition is organic rather than abrupt.

Duration: 2.5 to 4 hours at typical doses, tapering gradually rather than dropping off. Next-morning grogginess is uncommon at moderate doses, which is one of the things that separates these genetics from heavier modern indica autos.

Best suited to: evening wind-down, end of the week, and deep rest after a physically demanding day. Not a daytime strain, since the weight that builds through the mid-phase makes productive work difficult at typical doses.

Potency note: at 18 to 22% THC this is moderate by current standards and sits well below the modern hybrid peaks, but the myrcene-dominant profile amplifies delivery, so it lands harder than the number suggests. The value here is the depth and quality of the body effect rather than the raw figure, and it is worth treating with respect for that reason.

Flavour: earthy and sweet on the inhale with pine and subtle spice, then the characteristic musky-hash exhale from the Afghani genetics. Not complex or fruity like a modern dessert hybrid. Honest, recognisable, and among the smoothest smokes in the range once properly cured, since the clean profile and dense trichomes hide the potency.

🧪 Terpene Profile

The aroma is classic indica, earthy and sweet with pine underneath, and the chemistry behind it is straightforward:

  • Myrcene (dominant): the sweet, earthy foundation that produces the characteristic aroma and amplifies THC delivery, which is why this one hits harder than the percentage suggests
  • Pinene: the fresh pine note, and the reason the opening phase stays more functional than a pure myrcene-dominant strain manages
  • Caryophyllene: peppery spice on the back of the tongue, and the one terpene that binds directly to CB2 receptors
  • Humulene: a woody, hoppy character, the same terpene prominent in many craft beers

For how these compounds shape flavour and effect, see our cannabis terpenes guide.

🌱 Growing Auto Northern Lights Seeds in Australia

(Strictly for ACT residents with a licence or those overseas where cultivation is legal.)

Experience level: the most forgiving auto in the range, and the Afghani genetics are the reason. Forty years of selection has produced a plant that absorbs minor feeding mistakes and environmental variation better than anything else we stock, and the tip-burn threshold sits meaningfully higher than the OG and Kush crosses. That is a real advantage, and it is not the same thing as foolproof: the fixed timeline still means an early mistake travels to harvest, so the standard auto discipline applies regardless of how much the genetics forgive. Final container from day one, no transplanting, LST only. Our cannabis seedling care guide covers the early weeks that set up everything after.

Critical auto rules, before germination:

  • Start in the final container: 10 to 15 L indoors, 15 to 20 L outdoors, no transplanting. Fabric pots help with air pruning and with the watering problem below
  • Nothing in week one, then build: a seedling in good medium has what it needs, and the first feed belongs around days 14 to 21 once the third node is developing. The ceiling here is higher than the rest of the range, which is not a reason to start high
  • Water on weight: the compact root system does not pull water the way a big photoperiod does, and wet medium that never dries is the most common problem with this plant
  • LST only: gentle tie-downs from week 2 to 3. No topping and no FIM, since the fixed timeline does not allow the recovery

Height and structure: 50 to 80 cm with the classic bushy Christmas-tree shape, tight internodes, and strong lateral branching. Stretch is minimal at 25 to 40% in early flower, well short of a sativa auto, so height management is barely a consideration here. LST from week 2 to 3 opens the canopy and improves light to the lower bud sites, and it is worth doing even though the plant does not demand it. Defoliation should be minimal, removing only fan leaves directly shading bud sites. If the space itself is the constraint, our guide to growing cannabis in small spaces covers pot sizing, LST, and lighting for compact setups, and these genetics are the reference point it is built around.

Climate: 22 to 26 °C in early growth, 20 to 24 °C through flower, with humidity at 60 to 70% at seedling, 50 to 60% in veg, and 40 to 45% through late flower. The Afghani genetics evolved in dry mountain conditions and handle moderate humidity better than the tight, high-resin colas of modern hybrids, which gives this plant a buffer in humid coastal conditions that most autos do not have.

Harvest: flowering initiates at three to four weeks from germination and the plant finishes around 70 to 77 days. Trichome density builds hard in the final seven to ten days, so check from day 56 and harvest at 20 to 30% amber for the complete body effect, or later for a heavier finish. Harvesting at cloudy alone misses what these genetics actually do. Our amber trichomes guide covers reading them, including why amber may never appear in a heat-stressed Australian grow, and the drying and curing guide covers the finish.

🏠 Indoor Growing

  • Seed to harvest: 70 to 77 days fixed, no light flip required
  • Yield: up to 450 g/m² under quality lighting with LST
  • Container: 10 to 15 L, started in the final pot, no transplanting, with fabric pots preferred
  • Light: 18/6 recommended, 20/4 marginally better for yield, flowers on any schedule
  • Height: 50 to 80 cm, which suits tents from 60 × 60 cm upward and makes this one of the most compact plants in the catalogue
  • Training: LST from week 2 to 3, and minimal intervention beyond that, since the structure largely manages itself
  • Cycles: five to six complete runs a year on the fixed timeline
  • Aroma: earthy and moderate, less pungent than diesel or skunk genetics, though carbon filtration is still worth running from week 6

🌿 Outdoor Growing (Australia)

  • Timing: ~70 to 77 days from planting, not season-dependent. Plant September through March for warm-weather runs
  • Yield: 90 to 160 g per plant, with 20 to 30 L containers and full sun approaching the upper end
  • Container: 15 to 20 L minimum, started in the final pot, no transplanting
  • Site: full sun preferred at six or more hours, though this one tolerates partial shade better than most autos in the range
  • Runs per season: three in Queensland, northern NSW and Perth (September, December, March), and two in central NSW, the ACT, Victoria and SA
  • Weather tolerance: the Afghani genetics handle temperature variation and brief cold better than most autos, taking brief overnight lows to 10 °C without serious damage, though sustained cold below 15 °C is worth avoiding. Our Australian climate strain guide covers regional fit
  • Pests: caterpillars are the main risk in late summer and early autumn, so inspect weekly from February and consider a preventive BT spray in early flower

🧪 Auto Northern Lights Seeds EC and Feeding Guide: Soil and Coco

Auto Northern Lights is a reliable mid-range feeder and the most forgiving auto in the range on nutrients. The Afghani-dominant genetics handle moderate EC well, which puts the ceiling here above the OG and Kush crosses and makes this the strain where a feeding mistake is least likely to end your run. The important word is forgiving rather than hungry. The genetics allow a higher ceiling, they do not demand you go looking for it, and you still get there by building gradually rather than by starting high.

All EC values assume quality base nutrients. Australian tap water typically runs 0.2 to 0.5 EC, so factor that into your target and measure after mixing. For how this strain sits against every other auto we stock, Jason's autoflower EC and feeding guide maps all eighteen by sensitivity group.

📊 EC and pH Target Table: Soil vs Coco

Phase / Week Soil EC Coco EC Soil pH Coco pH Notes
Weeks 1–2
Seedling
0.4–0.6 0.35–0.5 6.2–6.5 6.0–6.2 Plain water in week 1. A seedling in good medium has what it needs, and the first feed belongs around days 14 to 21 once the third node is developing.
Weeks 3–4
Early veg / pre-flower
1.0–1.2 0.9–1.05 6.2–6.5 6.0–6.2 Nitrogen-forward, built on plant response. Pre-flowers around day 21 to 25. The Afghani genetics absorb a misstep here better than the OG and Kush crosses do.
Weeks 4–5
Pre-flower transition
1.2–1.4 1.05–1.2 6.2–6.5 6.0–6.2 Reduce nitrogen and introduce bloom nutrients. Begin potassium support, which carries resin density on these genetics.
Weeks 5–8
Peak flower
1.6–1.8 1.4–1.6 6.2–6.5 6.0–6.2 The Afghani genetics carry this comfortably where an OG cross would burn. Hold potassium through bud development and back off nitrogen from week 6 to protect the earthy-sweet profile.
Weeks 9–10
Late flower / ripening
1.2–1.5 1.0–1.3 6.2–6.5 6.0–6.2 Taper EC down as the plant draws on reserves. Monitor runoff. Check trichomes from day 56.
Final 7–10 days
Flush
0.4–0.6 0.4–0.5 6.2 6.0–6.2 Plain pH water, tapering to the figures above as the medium clears. A 7 to 10 day window is enough here, since the stable genetics do not accumulate salt stress the way the sensitive crosses do.

🌱 Soil-Specific Notes

Soil suits these genetics: quality potting mix runs 1.0 to 1.5 EC on its own in weeks 1 to 3, which covers the seedling phase without any input from you. Plain water in week 1, then feed once runoff EC drops below 0.8 or once the plant asks by going slightly lighter green and slowing down. Soil is the more forgiving medium here and it pairs well with the more forgiving genetics, which is a reasonable combination to hand a first auto run.

Runoff monitoring: water to 10 to 20% runoff and measure it. Runoff more than 0.4 above feed-in indicates salt buildup, so flush with twice the pot volume of plain pH water. Worth checking through weeks 5 to 8 where the EC is at its highest.

Watering frequency: every two to three days in veg, every one to two days in peak flower, and let the medium dry somewhat between for root oxygen. Lift the pot rather than watering to a calendar.

🥥 Coco-Specific Notes

Coco runs lower than soil, not higher: reduce every figure by 10 to 15% against the soil column, which is why the coco numbers in the table above sit below rather than above. Coco delivers nutrients to the root more efficiently, so the effective concentration at the root is higher than the input EC suggests and the margin for error is smaller. This is the one place where the forgiving genetics get less forgiving, because the medium removes the buffer rather than the plant.

Feeding frequency: once daily in veg, once to twice daily in peak flower, and never let coco dry out, since salt concentration spikes in dry coco cost the clean terpene expression.

pH in coco: 6.0 to 6.2 at every feed. Phosphorus and calcium uptake drops off below that, and the hash quality in the aroma suffers before any visible deficiency appears.

CalMag in coco: 1 ml/L from week 1 through flush. These are not heavy CalMag users, so start at the lower end and remember the CalMag counts toward your total EC.

Runoff in coco: monitor runoff EC alongside input. If runoff is climbing well above input, the root zone is accumulating salt and it needs flushing and a reduction, regardless of how robust the genetics are.

📋 EC Troubleshooting

What You're Seeing Likely Cause Action
Tip burn at any stage EC genuinely too high, since the threshold here is higher than the rest of the range. It appears 3 to 5 days after the overfeed, not on the day Drop EC by 25% and run plain pH water for two sessions before reintroducing at the lower level. In soil, check what the medium is already providing before adding more. Seeing tip burn on this strain means you were well past the line.
Droopy leaves and slow growth Overwatering, which is more common here than on most autos Let the medium dry further between waterings and lift the pot to assess. Add perlite or move to fabric pots if drainage is the underlying problem.
Yellowing lower leaves mid-flower Normal nitrogen cycling, if it is limited to the bottom two or three leaves and the upper growth is healthy If it climbs past the lower three leaves, add 0.1 EC of nitrogen at the next feed and watch. If it stays at the bottom, leave it alone.
Flat earthy aroma with no hash note Excess late-flower nitrogen suppressing the myrcene expression, or insufficient cure Back off nitrogen from week 6 regardless of leaf colour. If it is flat at harvest, the cure will develop it, so jar for four weeks before assessing.
Burning at moderate EC despite the numbers looking right A compromised root zone rather than the schedule, usually a pot that is too small or a history of overwatering Look at the container, drainage and watering frequency before touching the nutrients. Even a high-ceiling strain burns at low EC into a restricted root zone, and this is the most consistent cause of unexpected burn.

💡 Feeding Key Principles

  • The ceiling is higher, which is not permission to start high: 1.6 to 1.8 in soil at peak flower is where these genetics are comfortable, and you still get there by building from 0.4 to 0.6 the same way you would on anything else
  • Watch the tips, not the calendar: clean, crisp tips mean you are in the right place, and tip burn shows up three to five days after the overfeed rather than on the day, so the plant is always telling you about last week
  • Coco goes down, not up: 10 to 15% below the soil figures, since coco delivers to the root more efficiently and shrinks the margin these genetics otherwise give you
  • Fix the root zone before the schedule: the most common cause of unexpected burn is not the EC, it is a small pot or a wet medium, and no feeding change fixes either
  • Flush and cure finish the profile: 7 to 10 days is enough here, since the stable genetics do not accumulate salt stress the way sensitive crosses do, then three to four weeks in sealed jars for the hash character

🗓️ Auto Northern Lights Seeds Week-by-Week Grow Guide

Auto Northern Lights runs 70 to 77 days with the compact, predictable structure of a classic indica. The management focus is restraint rather than intervention: conservative feeding, moderate watering, light training. The genetics do the work when left alone, and the cure does the rest.

Phase / Week What's Happening Key Actions Watch Out For
Weeks 1–2
Seedling
Taproot establishing and first true leaves emerging. The compact bushy frame shows early, with tight internodes and a strong central stem. Plain water only in week 1. 18/6. 60 to 70% RH. Final container from day one. Resist the urge to feed. Overwatering and overfeeding, the two defining risks here. Water in a ring around the seedling and give it nothing else.
Weeks 3–4
Early veg / pre-flower
Compact vegetative growth filling out. Pre-flowers around day 21. Multiple lateral bud sites establishing. Begin gentle LST from week 2 to 3. First feed around days 14 to 21. EC 1.0 to 1.2 soil, nitrogen-forward. 50 to 60% RH. Topping or FIM, which the timeline will not forgive regardless of how robust the genetics are. Watering to a schedule rather than to pot weight.
Weeks 5–7
Early-mid flower
Dense bud sites stacking on the lateral branches. The earthy-sweet aroma builds from week 6. Stretch is minimal. Transition to bloom. Build to EC 1.6 to 1.8 soil, which these genetics carry comfortably. Potassium from week 5. Carbon filter from week 6. Drop RH to 45 to 50%. Back off nitrogen from week 6. Late nitrogen, which costs the earthy-sweet profile directly. The EC itself is rarely the problem on this strain, the nitrogen ratio is.
Weeks 8–11
Late flower / ripening
Dense, resin-covered buds at full structure. Aroma at peak, trichomes transitioning, orange pistils showing strongly. Check trichomes from day 56. Drop RH to 40 to 45%. Begin the flush at 15 to 20% amber. Keep airflow through the canopy. Harvest at 20 to 30% amber. Harvesting early. Trichome density builds in the final week, and cloudy alone is not the target on this plant.
Post-harvest
Dry & cure
The hash quality develops in the jar. Fresh-dried material is earthy and one-dimensional. After three to four weeks the musky character that defines the strain is fully there. Slow dry at 15 to 18 °C, 55 to 60% RH for 10 to 14 days. Jar at 60 to 65% RH, burp daily for two weeks, then seal. Four to five weeks is materially better than three. A fast, hot dry, and opening jars early. Both cost the same thing: the reason anyone grows this strain in the first place.

🧠 Jason's Tip: Growing Auto Northern Lights

The single best thing you can do for yield on this plant has nothing to do with nutrients, lights, or training. It is pot size. A Northern Lights auto in 15 L will out-produce the same seed in 7 L, every time, by a margin that dwarfs anything else you can change. It costs you nothing but a bag of medium and a bit of floor space, and I still watch people run these in undersized pots and then go looking for a bottle to fix it.

On feeding, this one is the exception in my range rather than the rule. The Afghani genetics handle moderate EC well and the tip-burn threshold sits meaningfully higher than the OG and Kush crosses, so 1.6 to 1.8 in soil at peak flower is comfortable here where it would wreck an Auto Godfather OG. What I want to be clear about is what that means: the ceiling is higher, not the floor. It still gets nothing in week one and it still builds gradually from 0.4 to 0.6. If you go looking for the ceiling from day one you will find it, and the plant will let you know three to five days later.

Then lift the pot before you water it. Every time. This root system does not drink like a photoperiod and the medium stays wet longer than you think it will, and a plant sitting in wet soil that never dries out is the most common problem I see on this one. Droopy leaves get read as hunger, more feed goes in, and now you have both problems at once on a clock that will not wait for you.

⚖️ Auto Northern Lights vs Northern Lights Feminised: Which Suits You

Cycles per year 5–6 indoor 4–5 indoor
Best for Perpetual cycles, balcony grows, multiple outdoor runs a season Maximum yield, indoor SOG, full veg control

Both run the same Afghani and Thai foundation and the character is close between them. Choose Auto Northern Lights for a fixed timeline, the most compact plant in the catalogue, and multiple runs a season without a flip. Choose the Northern Lights Feminised for the outdoor yield, which is the one place the gap between the two formats is genuinely large, and for full control over plant size before flowering.

🎯 Is Auto Northern Lights Right for Your Grow?

✅ Auto Northern Lights is the right choice if:

  • You want the classic Northern Lights body effect, deep and gradual rather than immediate, on a fixed 70 to 77 day timeline
  • Multiple fast indoor cycles matter, at five to six runs a year with consistent results
  • Height is a real constraint, where 50 to 80 cm makes this the most compact plant in the catalogue
  • You are growing outdoors without light control and want two to three runs an Australian season
  • Predictability matters to you, since forty years of breeding stability shows up as consistent phenotypes run after run

❌ Consider the alternatives if:

  • Outdoor yield is the priority, where the Northern Lights Feminised reaches 400 to 650 g per plant against 90 to 160 g here, which is the largest gap between any auto and photo pair in the range
  • You want full veg control to size the plant before flowering, or the training options a photoperiod allows
  • Daytime and functional use is the goal, where a sativa-leaning auto like Auto Jack Herer is the better fit
  • Raw potency is what you are after, where the high-THC range has stronger options

❓ Frequently Asked Questions: Auto Northern Lights Seeds

What are Auto Northern Lights seeds?

Auto Northern Lights seeds are the autoflowering version of the Northern Lights indica, an Afghani Indica × Thai Sativa cross that emerged from the Pacific Northwest in the late 1970s and was stabilised commercially by Nevil Schoenmakers in the Netherlands. The #5 phenotype he selected won the 1989 High Times Cannabis Cup and became the definitive expression. Ruderalis triggers flowering automatically at three to four weeks from germination, and seed to harvest runs around 70 to 77 days on a fixed timeline. For the full origin story and the Cannabis Castle history, read our Northern Lights strain review.

How long do Auto Northern Lights seeds take from seed to harvest?

Around 70 to 77 days (10 to 11 weeks) from germination on a fixed timeline, and most plants hit the window reliably rather than running over. Check trichomes from day 56 and harvest at 20 to 30% amber for the characteristic body effect, or push past 30% for a heavier finish. Do not harvest early, since the depth develops in the final week.

What yields can I expect from Auto Northern Lights seeds?

Up to 450 g/m² indoors under quality lighting with LST, which is achievable for a competent grower rather than an exceptional ceiling. Outdoors, 90 to 160 g per plant, with 20 to 30 L containers and full sun approaching the upper end. These are honest figures, and the 550 g/m² that appears on some listings is the photoperiod's number. Pot size moves this more than anything else you can control.

Are Auto Northern Lights seeds difficult to grow?

This is the most forgiving auto in the range, and the genetics absorb minor feeding mistakes and environmental variation better than anything else we stock. What that does not mean is foolproof. The fixed timeline still means a mistake in the first three weeks travels to harvest with no recovery window, which is true of every autoflower regardless of how robust it is, so the discipline is the same: final container from day one, no transplanting, LST only, and water on pot weight. The difference is that the consequences of getting it slightly wrong are less severe here than anywhere else in the range.

Why is Auto Northern Lights more forgiving than other autos?

The Afghani-dominant genetics are the reason, and forty years of cultivation history in every condition imaginable is the evidence. They handle moderate EC well where the OG and Kush crosses, which carry their photoperiod parents' nutrient sensitivity straight through the ruderalis cross, will show tip burn at levels this plant absorbs without complaint. Peak flower sits comfortably at 1.6 to 1.8 in soil here, against 1.3 to 1.6 for the sensitive crosses. Jason's autoflower EC and feeding guide maps where every auto in the range sits on that scale.

Why are my Auto Northern Lights leaves drooping?

In the early weeks it is usually overwatering. The compact root system does not draw water the way a large photoperiod does, so a watering rhythm carried over from another strain leaves the medium wet for too long. Lift the pot and wait until it is noticeably light before watering, and do not add nutrients in response, since that turns one problem into two on a timeline that will not wait.

How does the auto compare to the photoperiod Northern Lights?

Close in character, and this is one of the most faithful auto conversions in the catalogue. THC of 18 to 22% against 19 to 24% is a small gap, and the terpene profile, effect, and structure all track the original well. The real difference is outdoor yield, where the Northern Lights Feminised produces 400 to 650 g per plant with a full Australian summer veg against 90 to 160 g here. Quality is preserved and quantity is reduced.

How tall does Auto Northern Lights grow?

50 to 80 cm, with only 25 to 40% stretch in early flower, which is well short of a sativa auto and makes height management barely a consideration. It works in tents from 60 × 60 cm upward and suits balconies and low-profile outdoor positions. LST from week 2 to 3 is still worth doing, not for height but to open the canopy and get light into the lower bud sites. For the full setup, our guide to growing cannabis in small spaces covers pot sizing, training and ventilation in tight footprints.

What EC should I feed Auto Northern Lights?

Start at 0.4 to 0.6 in soil at seedling with plain water in week 1, build to 1.0 to 1.2 in early veg, and hold 1.6 to 1.8 through peak flower, which these genetics carry where most autos would not. Coco runs 10 to 15% below soil rather than above, since coco delivers to the root more efficiently. Back off nitrogen from week 6 to protect the earthy-sweet profile. The full soil and coco table with pH targets sits in the EC and feeding guide above.

Why is the cure so important for Auto Northern Lights?

The earthy-sweet hash character that makes this strain recognisable develops in the jar rather than on the plant. Fresh-dried material is flat: earthy, but without the musky quality that is the whole point. After three to four weeks in sealed jars at 60 to 65% RH with daily burping for the first fortnight, the full expression is there, and four to five weeks is better again. Our drying and curing guide covers the slow dry that makes a good cure possible.

Does Auto Northern Lights suit Australian outdoor growing?

Yes, and the Afghani genetics are the reason. They handle temperature variation and brief cold better than most autos, taking overnight lows to around 10 °C without serious damage, and the dry-mountain heritage gives the bud structure more mould tolerance than a tight modern hybrid in humid coastal conditions. The fixed timeline allows three runs a season in Queensland, northern NSW and Perth, and two further south. Our Australian climate strain guide covers regional fit.

Is Auto Northern Lights good for hash or concentrates?

Yes. The heavy trichome production from the Afghani genetics translates directly into good dry sift and bubble yields, and the clean myrcene-dominant profile produces smooth, flavourful hash without the harsh notes that can affect high-resin modern hybrids. The auto produces less material per plant than the photoperiod, so the returns are proportionally smaller, but the quality of the resin is not the thing that changes.

Do you ship Auto Northern Lights seeds across Australia?

Yes, with fast domestic shipping and discreet packaging, and most orders arrive within a few business days. All seeds are batch-tested with the paper towel method at ~22 °C and stored cold and dry to preserve viability. Browse the complete cannabis seeds Australia catalogue for the full range.

Planted 2 seeds 1 week apart. Same potting mix, same watering and fertiliser. First grew bushy and low as expected. Second grew a tall thick stem with huge leaves. Now it’s flowering and is higher than the light. Leaves look sick. Dry? Lacking nutrients? First going nicely. These photos are when the squat one is at 9 weeks from germination, tall one 8 weeks.

Stoked with my Northern Lights seeds from Sacred Seeds! All popped and are absolutely thriving under my indoor LED setup. The genetic quality is top-notch, and delivery was super fast and discreet. Will definitely recommend Jess & Jason to other growers and buy again!
Only tiny suggestion: I’d love it if the seeds were shipped in a small plastic vial instead of a simple zipbag, just to keep them better protected in transit and easier to store.
Thanks again for the epic service!

Service has been nothing but excellent!

Quick and quality responses, seds arrived less than a week later (love domestic shipping) and were packaged in biodegradable bag (I love seeing earth concious companies!).

I really like that most strains on this site give you the option to order only 1 or 2 seeds at a time instead of other banks that force you to by minimums of larger quantities.

If your looking for a reliable local seedbank, this is it!

    Thanks again Sacred Seeds ❤
